On the morning of April 16, 2013, a team of gunmen, using rifles, opened fire on the Metcalf Transmission Substation in San Jose California, severely damaging 17 transformers and disabling the grid, causing $15M of damage. Evidence left behind, or rather lack of, leads investigators to believe this attack was carried out by a highly trained elite military unit. The attackers could have caused much more damage by creating fires, likely costing lives, yet were surgically precise in their targets, choosing to cause incredible disruption but draw the least amount of attention doing so.

Metcalf Substation was the most terrifying, and impressive display of a coordinated strike against the United States power grid that has ever been seen. This one event, single handedly changes the way that power stations operate and spurred governmental responses for nearly a decade... and yet... almost no one has ever even heard of it.

To this day no suspects have been named and no one has been arrested.
This attack was carried out with incredible planning, military precision and attention to detail.
