BEFORE he’d become the modern personification of “crunk rap”, rapper Duke Deuce was born Patavious Isom on May 1st, 1992 in where else, but Memphis, Tennessee. Over the years, Memphis would serve as Duke Deuce’s home as well as his muse. Growing up in that city was rough, there’s no doubt about it. Duke witnessed pimping, drug dealing, and gangbanging all first-hand – but the city wasn’t always violence and debauchery, sometimes the streets could be really enjoyable too, like when he told Flaunt: “You had the fun sh*t that was going on, like gangsta walking. Jooking, booking, it’s got several names. That’s something I’d picked up from being in the hood.” Another thing they have a whole bunch of in Memphis is culture, which means that the music Duke grew up listening too played a massive role in how he was raised. Crunk music was in his blood, from the cradle to now. It started when he first shared a room with his father, famed Memphis rapper and producer Duke Nitty who worked with talents like Gangsta Blac, Nasty Nardo, Dem Thugs, and Mobb Lyfe.
