Keywords Matter

[Reflective & Contemplative Poem Collection] -
Keywords have been used to shape the ‘trending’ flow of information on many social media platforms, within news media broadcasts, newspapers, reports and publications.
While they have their place, much of the language has been promoted to sell us an idea as if it is solid and accurate, with a view to shaping our opinions and behaviours, both individual and group. We now realise that this is not just merely marketing, but a little more influential and sinister than that. Many ‘keywords’ are being deployed to progress agendas that do not serve either the earth or her inhabitants. Who do they serve? Do we take things at ‘face value’? How do we discern? Do we consider in depth? In what way/s are we being manipulated?

This creation falls into my 'Transitional Times' poem category which contains 'a variety of Motivational and Commentary poems exploring issues of the time'. They were written from 2022+
to encourage consideration, reflection and faith in ourselves, others and God.

Poem wording -

Keywords Matter

If ‘keywords matter’, then let’s build a plan
To ‘reverse flood’ the ether, as much as we can.
With # (hashtag) symbols that are positive and calm,
Empowering, for each woman and man.

With #Gifted. #Grace. #A Loving Face.
The negativity we can start to erase.
Yet, have care, as hash tags and labels, also
Have led us into believing, ‘their’ ‘one world’ ‘fables’!

So, how else can we work to reverse the tables?

In everyday speech, with each word we utter ..
Stay positive and fearless, upbeat and free – no aside mutter .
From the negative ideation ‘they’ have shared with glee
Look at and examine, your every assumed belief.

No more woke issues, without thinking – just perceiving
They have manipulated our senses, to get us believing.
Reflect, revise, no more automatic assumptions.
Look it up, check it out – get off our little bum-kins!!

Push against all the ‘followers’ and make up your own mind.
Soon you will find others of the same ‘kind’ and 'like-mind’.
You’ll not be alone, you never have been. We never are.
Just made to feel like we live alone in a jar – on a shelf, like an elf!!

Now be open to thinking afresh, for yourself,
Share your considered thoughts with all your friends.
Break out, break free. We can turn this old wavering bend;
And bring their ‘narrowness’, ‘fibs’ and ‘fables’, to an end!

Some helpful tool words, to engage and befriend ..
Might include, ‘Really?’, ‘Is that so?’, ‘To what end?’ or ‘Why?’
These words might help to remove the ‘stye’ from an eye.
Then to wokeness, we can at last say … GOODBYE!
