Trust Your Gut.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, a mid-19th century American poet and philosopher, once advised that we each have genius that expresses itself through “our inner voice.”
In today’s terms, Emerson is telling you to trust your gut. It's the message of this video.
Let’s look at 3 ways you can use it:
Making Choices:
As you look at your future, trusting your gut can play a huge role. By trusting your instincts, you can choose academic subjects, outside-of-school activities, or potential career paths that closely match your interests and values. Trusting your gut can lead to a satisfying life, rather than solely focusing on what other people think.
Evaluating Contacts:
You will often encounter different relationships. Trusting your gut can help you evaluate the people you interact with, particularly with overly-friendly strangers who want to communicate with you online. Determine who you feel comfortable and safe around. By being sensitive to your instincts, you can recognize red flags or positive vibes that may guide you in choosing healthy friendships, identifying potential toxic relationships, or knowing when to trust someone. Trusting your gut can contribute to your overall well-being and emotional health.

Decisions in Risky Situations:
You may face situations where you need to make quick decisions, particularly in risky behaviors. Trusting your gut can serve as an internal compass, allowing you to instinctively recognize when something feels wrong or unsafe. You may find yourself asking, “Do I take this drug?” “Should I steal this money?” Or, “Do I walk alone in the dark?” By listening to your inner voice and trusting your intuition, you can navigate these situations with greater confidence and make choices that prioritize your safety and well-being.
Trusting your gut should be combined with some serious thinking, seeking guidance from trusted adults, and considering available information. While intuition can be a valuable tool, it should be balanced with careful thought and reflection to ensure the best possible outcomes.
