Are low cost airlines ghosting customers?

Buying tickets on low cost airlines can be a gamble because they might cancel the flight or the entire route. Also, smaller airlines may not allow you to book tickets very far in advance. This could leave you in a tight spot, as a ticket with the major carriers can be significantly more expensive.
Airlines make changes to their route network regularly, especially budget airlines like Avelo, Breeze, and Frontier.
Low cost airlines are rapidly growing and they experiment with underserved and unproven routes. They will introduce new flights with very low fares but cancel the flight if they don’t attract enough passengers.
Many smaller communities lack service from a major airline or their partners.
Avelo is two years old and offers 17 destinations form New Haven, Connecticut where it is the only commercial airline.
