'Armenian armed formations blatantly violated' ceasefire - Azerbajani

Azerbaijani Defence Ministry spokesperson Anar Eyvazov accused Armenian armed formations of violating the ceasefire in the disputed border region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"On August 3, members of illegal armed formations of Armenia on the Azerbaijani territory, where a Russian Federation peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, blatantly violated the provisions of the statement of November 10, 2020," the speaker stated.

He informed that Azerbaijan carried out a 'punitive operation' in response to 'subversive and terrorist act', taking control of several Caucausus heights.
"As a result, Armenian irregular forces were destroyed", Eyvazov informed.

On Wednesday, the President of the unrecognised Nagorno-Karabakh republic, Araik Harutyunyan, claimed that Azerbaijan's military had violated the ceasefire.
