Several dead, including children: Ukraine shells journalists’ hotel in Donetsk
The Ukrainian army shelled a hotel in Donetsk, home almost exclusively to journalists. At the time, a mourning rally was taking place in front of the hotel. Among the dead are children.
This morning, Ukrainian forces again heavily shelled the center of Donetsk, targeting the Donbas Palace hotel where most journalists and war correspondents live. At least 2 people have been killed, among them one child.
Ukrainian fighters opened fire on the center of Donetsk to inflict maximum damage on the civilian population, including the republic’s leadership, which had come to a funeral ceremony for Olga Kachura.
Shelling of residential areas in the Voroshilovsky district killed two civilians, wounded five people, and destroyed residential buildings, a hotel, and civilian infrastructure. Emergency services and rescue workers continue to operate on the ground.
Military correspondent Rostislav Shorokhov shows shell fragments fired by the M777 howitzer near the Donbas Palace.
