8 Dead as Kentucky Floods Displace Hundreds

At least 8 people have died due to heavy floods in eastern Kentucky, governor Andy Beshear said, adding that more fatalities are still expected.

“This is by far the worst flooding disaster at least of my lifetime in Kentucky," he told the NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt.

Hundreds of people have been displaced by the disaster. The National Guard has been mobilized to aid local emergency services.
