The giraffe is a vertebrate of great stature. The male, generally larger than the female, can reach about 5.3 m in height and weigh around 1,200 kg; the female can reach a height of about 4.3 m and weigh 830 kg. The longevity of this animal is about 25 years. Giraffes are herbivores, thus feeding on leaves, stems, flowers and fruits.
