Perhaps the greatest temptation for any growing Christian comes when there has been in the past an occasion of offense, and there is now in the present an opportunity to get even. How is a follower of Jesus allowed to fight and still invite the blessing of God? David spent years on the run from King Saul, and he suffered much at his hands. On two specific occasions, David had an opportunity to settle the score by killing Saul. Trusting God more so than he feared Saul, David took the noble pathway and did not enact his own vengeance. From his example, we see a better way to win over our opponents, and to send our own enemies back home in defeat.
