Into Thine Hand

What does it mean to commit your spirit into God's hand?
David was king of Israel. He was a powerful man. He had a powerful army. He was well respected. And despite all of that, David trusted the LORD God of Heaven first and foremost. David placed his spirit into the hands of the LORD. If it was to be that David’s enemies were going to capture him and kill him, David knew of no better place for his spirit than to be in the hands of God. David fully knew he could trust the LORD with his most valued possession. People may amass great riches here on earth. People may have large loving families and friends. People may have respect from their peers and power and influence. And they cannot take any of that with them when they die. Into thine hand I commit my spirit – means you fully commit yourself to the LORD God.
