ABOUT THE 2017 HOBIE TI
It is a tandem pedal driven kayak at its core but it quickly transforms into a sailing beast on the water. Simply attach the akas and amas and drop in the sail and you have yourself a sailing kayak (2 min or less). This 18ft 6" behemoth has its eyes set on open water and offshore. It is capable of holding 600lbs so three adults (200lbs or under). The akas are capable of having trampolines for the third person. I have seen two adults and several kids on the trampoline setups before. New this year are the Mirage 180s drives. They are very similar to previous Mirage "fin" drives but this time they have reverse and the material appears more robust. The TI is Lowrance ready so adding a "Lowrance" fishfinder is a breeze (sailing pun intended). Sailing tandem or solo is pretty easy with dual seating rudder controls. Overall, the Hobie TI is a fantastic vessel. Is it a kayak or is it a sailboat? You be the judge. All I know is it makes me feel alive!

Important this isn't my primary kayak. It is too large to be my primary. I have several kayaks and plan to get more for different uses and to share with you...my viewers. This kayak takes a bit of time transporting, but with a trailer it is pretty easy. Don't be intimidated if you don't know how to sail. The Hobie TI is like sailing for dummies. Within a few minutes I was flying past dolphins. It is SUPER easy. If you don't need a tandem the Adventure Island is the little brother of the TI. Regardless, the Hobie Island series kayaks are adventure magnets.
