5/16" or 3/8" 36" stainless steel threaded rod (Need One)
5/16" or 3/8" nuts (Need 4 Standard Nuts or 2 Nylon Locknuts)
1" diameter PVC cut to 20" length (Need One)
1" PVC end cap (Need Two)
3/4" PVC plug (Need Two)
PVC Primer & Cement

Homemade Kayakers Hawaiian Spear Gaff aka Kill Spear or Kage
This homemade fishing gaff is approximately 36 inches total in length and has a paracord wrapped handle. Build time: 30 minutes (first time) Second one took only 17min to make.
Handle floated due to center tube being sealed. I used 5/16" diameter stainless steel threaded rod but one could make it out of 3/8" easily as well.
Use this by stabbing the fish in head to stun and subdue it before hauling it into the kayak. It sounds gruesome but that is fishing folks. This tool has been used by kayakers and fisherman for years. Save yourself some money and build your own! Glow in dark paracord from link above is awesome!

He is part of the KayakDIY Facebook Group Community and brought this to our attention. Ours is a bit different in that we finish with caps and used paracord for grip. Also, he chose to use a 3/8" rod.
