Ambush At Abagana Biafran Troops Destroy 2nd Division Convoy Nigerian Civil War Footage | April 1968

Fresh from its capture of Onitsha, the Nigerian force comprised of amoured cars, troop carriers and a fuel tanker was inching its way towards Enugu when it was waylaid by a detatchment of Biafran troops led by Major Jonathan Uchendu.

A direct hit on the tanker by a mortar launched soon after the Biafran platoon opened fire succeeded in creating a 400-metre conflagration that incinerated men and materials within a short period of time. Most of those who survived the inferno were cut down in a hail of gunfire.
