New GLA 35! AMG’s Cheapest SUV Reviewed!

So #MercedesAMG likes making SUVs because they sell so many now. And the entry to that #AMG SUV family is now this the GLA 35 4Matic. The less powerful brother to the GLA45S we recently reviewed here:

So first let’s see what the car brings to the table. The previous GLA 45 had 380BHP, 0-60 of 4.8 seconds from the 4 cylinder single turbo engine. The 4matic had a maximum of 50% power to the rear. And the car itself was an oddly less practical car than the A45. But despite this it was really quite good looking in full fat AMG form. With 1 million units sold, it’s no wonder AMG figured a cheaper model was in order. Our new 35 features the same format as the old 45, with a 2 cylinder 4 pot, the same 4 magic system, same brakes, but suspension and steering borrowed from the GLA45S of the new generation!!

It’s only 0.2secs behind the old GLA 45 to 60, and the engine produces 306BHP with 400NM of torque. But these are the same figures as the A35, which is a smaller lighter more agile hatchback. Same goes for the CLA 35! So will this car feel sluggish? And then there’s the matter of the 7 seat cooler looking GLB 35!
