Aristocrats still sulk about not receiving coronation invites
I loved reading about random aristocrats that were upset because they weren't invited to the coronation. For months, there were many stories about "peers" of the realm who left angry voicemails and sent strongly-worded letters to the Duke Norfolk. He was the one in charge of this whole mess. The non-royal dukes were angry that King Charles had not invited them, and they were prepared to storm the castle. Charles did not invite any of the Mountbattens or other relatives, and he didn't invite many people who were royally-adjacent. Katy Perry, Queen Camilla and her ex-husband were invited. Yeah. As...
Yeah. As I said in the Chubbly before, if they are really angry, then it will be a slow-burning gossip story. Looks like people are still angry. Hugo Vickers's Mail article: The aristocrats in the whole country are going crazy. The majority of them were not invited to the Coronation. I was told that the Duke, who played a major role in the organisation of the ceremony as Earl Marshal, received dozens of letters from peers explaining their reasons for attending. In the months before, when I gave talks and lectures, hereditary peer's robes were left in the closet. One of them told me that he was a peer and had the 'inalienable' right to attend a Coronation. I'm all for inclusion and recognizing the changing times. My controversial suggestion is that, when Prince William plans his own Coronation he invites an element of aristocrats to the event. The nobility has lost their influence over the years. Patrick Plunket would often tell the Queen that the aristocracy was becoming restive in the early years. She would then throw a ball. It would be a shame to alienate them. One irritated House of Lords peer said to me: "Just wait until the King requests more money from Parliament ...' There were many TV and sports celebrities in attendance. It would have been simple to invite 5 Dukes, marquesses, etc. - 25 seats reserved for hereditary peers. The world has changed. Ant Dec are in, the hereditary peering out for the very first time in 1000 years. I don't think William should invite everyone to his Coronation, when it finally happens. Just a representative group. After all, they are a part the way things are done. They still own large portions of England and Scotland. Many of them dedicate their lives to public service, just as they do the monarchy. Hereditary rights are what keep the King in place. They are also. To complain that peers are just a relic from the past raises awkward questions about monarchy. The Daily Mail What do you make of the fact that the aristocrats still rage, even weeks after the coronation? And that the Daily Mail reports on this? Yeah. It's bad. It's bad for King Charles. Hilarious for everyone else. Charles, more than his son, is close to aristocrats like dukes, viscounts and lords. He is close to them, and they have helped him cover up and facilitate his affairs over the years. Just a little hint: These people know a great deal about Charles and Camilla. It would be a terrible thing if the Duke felt compelled to write an scathing critique of the new King. The Earl of Corgipaw making a big deal about the new king would be devastating to the reign. This is also a serious threat: "to complain about the peers of the kingdom being a mere remnant of the past would raise awkward questions regarding the monarchy." You think that the aristocracy has lost touch with modern society, Charles? Guess what. Cover Images and Avalon Red provided the photos.
