CELEBRATING OUR SPIRITUAL HEROES

It's a national holiday today, and we usually add the tagline "happy" to it. Happy holidays or happy Thanksgiving. However, when it comes to memorial day in America, it's more of a somber moment than a rejoicing, happy one because we remember those brave souls that gave their lives to preserve our way of life and our freedoms here in America.
Since our beginning, we have had a revolutionary war, a Civil War, two world wars, and a multitude of others that were very costly to our military and our sons and daughters.
Across America today, family and friends are gathering in backyards for barbecues. The race tracks are open for fast cars, and rodeos are happening in the states that enjoy those sports.
On all those occasions, we have a happy time because we celebrate the freedom God has given us through the sacrifice of those who have stood against evil. So I do say happy memorial day.
Now, concerning the Kingdom of God, let me talk about our spiritual heroes out of Hebrews 11 for a moment. This chapter talks about the heroes of our faith that made it possible for us to celebrate freedom and victory. Men and women in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and beyond have defended the gospel because they believed the word of God was faithful.
Hebrews 11 gives us some names of those Old Testament heroes, yet countless martyrs, both men, and women, have laid their life down so that we might stand tall in our faith today and proclaim the freedom of Christ.
We are experiencing many forms of pushback from those opposed to the gospel at this hour. The American church is shocked by it, but the universal church has been experiencing that type of resistance and persecution since its conception.
We celebrate our heroes of faith today to remind us of our duty to be that hero in our station in the kingdom. They have given us a pattern and a track to run on; it's called faithfulness to the call of God and the message of Jesus Christ.
