Queen Camilla: "You speak very good English"
Here are photos of Day 2 from King Charles and Queen Camilla’s "surprise visit" to Northern Ireland last week. On Day 1, they opened a public park and stumbled around at a garden celebration. Here are photos of Day 2 from King Charles and Queen Camilla’s "surprise visit" to Northern Ireland last week. On Day 1, they opened a public park and stumbled around at a garden celebration. On Day 2, they visited a library and a multi-faith event, as well as meeting with children from immigrant families. According to what I have seen in British newspapers, the visit of the kings and queens was not covered too much. According to the Times article and photos, it may be a good thing. Camilla seemed to be getting shithoused during one of her stops. She told the children she met that they spoke "very good English." As is the King, Camilla enjoys gardening. On a recent visit to Northern Ireland, she admitted that all the weeding and trimming at 75 years old usually makes her "creak". On the second of their two-day trip to Northern Ireland, the Queen visited the 252-year old Armagh Robinson Library. She was also shown sections of Joseph Paxton’s Magazine of Botany. This is a collection of illustrated gardening advice. She told members of Dementia NI: "I am a passionate gardener. I'm a passionate gardener. It's also very therapeutic. But I stay way too long. "Everything creaks and grumbles." Camilla was welcomed by a table full of library volunteers and a group of Drelincourt School children whose English was their second language. She told them: "This work is really special." Without volunteers, the whole country would fall apart. It's a good thing there are so many of you. "Volunteers also receive as much as they give." She said to some children who had arrived in Northern Ireland only two weeks earlier: "You are very good at English." Angela Baleva is six years old, was born in Portugal, and speaks Bulgarian as her first language. She gave the Queen an image she colored in from the Lindisfarne Gospels. She said, "I told her I thought she looked beautiful and she thanked me." The Times Pay people for their hard work, please. Unpaid labor cannot sustain a country built on voluntarism. "You speak excellent English" - Camilla probably meant it as a compliment, but I was irritated by it, considering how hard it is for immigrants to adjust to any new country. Irritating. As for Camilla's creaking and grunting, yeah, those orthopedic kitten wedges say it all. Cover Images is the source of these photos.
