Type 2 diabetes:
-excess insulin because cells have
become resistant to insulin
Insulin is a hormone, [key]
-goes to cell receptor [lock]
-opens and glucose goes in
to supply energy
Type 1 diabetes: no insulin
-lock stays shut
-glucose stay in blood
-INSIDE CELL NO GLUCOSE FOR ENERGY

Type 2 diabetes:
Too much insulin [key] in blood
-receptor [lock] seems normal,
but glucose can't enter
'Maybe the lock is blocked'
Problem with this?
-people were not skinny
-they were really fat

Type 2 diabetes:
We knew there was lots of insulin...
AND lots of glucose
So:
The cell is overflowing with
insulin & glucose
