Unboxing my new Dewalt Planer: The DW734

My old planer broke down in the middle of a massive project and I had to replace it ASAP. Normally when a tool breaks down, it's a perfect opportunity to upgrade to the one you really want. However, the planer of my dreams simply wasn't in the budget. Not yet, anyways ;)

My old one was a Dewalt DW735 and it served me very well for 8 years. For 5 of those years, it was used on an almost daily basis. I would have happily replaced it with the exact same model but there wasn't one available to me as quickly as I needed it so I went with the model down. Which I happened to be able to purchase on sale. Perhaps it was meant to be?
