In this video you will learn how to make your very own Velveeta at home. No special equipment or cultures needed. You can use your regular kitchen utensils, and ingredients are usually available at most grocery stores! This video is part of the #JuneIsDairyMonth2023 collaboration hosted by myself @TheInquisitiveFarmwife and @MennoniteFarmhouse

Homemade Velveeta Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 gallon milk
1 Tablespoon Citric Acid
3/4 tsp. Baking Soda
1 1/2 tsp. Salt
1 Tablespoon Butter
Optional: Annatto cheese coloring
Directions:
1. Dissolve the citric acid in 1/4 c. water and set aside.
2. Heat milk to 140* and add colorant if desired.
3. Get your bowl and colander/sink set up, and pre-measure out remaining ingredients.
4. Once milk has reached 140* turn off heat and add citric acid. Gently stir. Let set for 5 minutes.
5. Strain the curds from the whey. Do about half of this at a time. Strain until curd mas forms a ball.
6. Put curds into a pot and turn on moderate heat. Add remaining ingredients and stir until well mixed and cheese is completely melted and liquid looking.
7. Quickly put into a greased container. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for several hours.
8. Once firm, use in recipes as you would normally.
