IT'S LIKE WALKING THROUGH A MINEFIELD WITHOUT A MAP!

POSTING ANYTHING ON FACEBOOK IS A RISKY BUSINESS AT BEST!
With their ever-fluid community standards, it's like walking through a minefield.
As I post various posts, and you know that I upload a great deal of them, it has become more and more necessary to comb through content more than once before posting. What was seen as disapproving speech a year ago is now 'hate speech'. What was confrontational a year ago is now 'bullying'. And so the list goes on. In the ever-changing landscape of purported 'community standards', it's impossible to be assured of membership with anything anymore controversial than a good cornbread recipe.

I recently had a post taken down, about a week after it went up, because somebody somewhere decided that my speech was too strong for them. I did not disparage race, sex, or religion. I did not make threats of any kind nor did I infer or recommend anything unpleasant by any reasonable standard. I did not 'bully' anyone by any reasonable standards of behaviour.

Nonetheless, my post was taken down and a message from the good folks at facebook informed me that my post had been taken down for the ever nebulous charge of 'violation of community standards' followed by links to a plethora of unacceptable behaviours forbidden by 'The Gods of the Facebook'. Without rhyme or reason or the ability to discuss what was wrong, my post was simply taken down.

Taken down is one thing, but the sternly written warning from facebook informed me that if they decide to pull down another of my posts at any time in the future this will bring to an end my ability to post on this forum. Free speech it is not. Understanding and concerned it is not. Honest it is not. In their role as 'Lord High Executioners', the facebook 'Guardians of the Gate' act with impunity, driven only by their own warped sense of right and wrong.

Max Allen Media will continue to post on Facebook and will be very careful to curb any unreasonable or objectionable content as we interpret it. Unable to read the 'mind of the algorithms of prejudice' that guide facebook and its ever-changing policies there is no guarantee that we will once again, in the future, trip over yet another of their invisible landmines of social justice and self-righteousness.

When and if the people at facebook decide to once again snipe us from the duck blinds of their morality, we will voluntarily, even happily, and forever leave this site forever.
