Sunday Longplay - Mega Man: The Sequel Wars (Genesis Homebrew) - Episode Red (Mega Man 4)

This week on Sunday Longplay, I'm playing the first part of a highly-anticipated homebrew project that is still in development. Welcome to Mega Man: The Sequel Wars!

Mega Man: The Sequel Wars is a Sega Genesis homebrew game that aims to give Mega Man 4, 5, and 6 the same 16-bit treatment that The Wily Wars gave to Mega Man 1, 2, and 3. But this game is not simply a direct port with enhanced graphics like The Wily Wars was. The Sequel Wars adds a whole slew of new features, like improved controls, new boss entrance and death animations, adjustable difficulty settings, and even a whole slew of new playable characters! On top of the standard Mega Man, you can also choose to play as Proto Man (who works like he did in Mega Man 9 and 10 where he can deflect projectiles with his shield but is more fragile in exchange), Roll (who takes cues from another still-in-development fangame, Mega Man Perfect Blue, using her broom as a sword effectively making her the Mega Man Classic series equivalent of Zero), and Man (a joke character like a miniaturized Mega Man).

The homebrew is still in development as I said before, but the enhanced version of Mega Man 4 is complete and released on the website above as "Episode Red". If you try to select Mega Man 5 or 6 on the game selection screen, it will say "Coming Soon!". It is still unknown whether or not The Sequel Wars will have a Wily Tower-style minigame unlocked after beating all three games. For this longplay, I'm playing Mega Man 4 as Roll on Hard Mode.
