NEWT:
It’s like 1973, 74 in Washington. Remember, the only attorney general to go to jail for obstruction of justice was John Mitchell under Richard Nixon. What you're seeing is obstruction of justice after obstruction of justice after obstruction of justice. At some point the system is bigger than the corrupt politicians and the corrupt appointees, and what Durham did by put it all together in understandable form for only one incident by the way, he totally exonerates Trump, he totally condemns, "New York Times," "Washington Post" and the Pulitzer Prize Committee and he totally condemns the justice department and the FBI. I think it is very hard for reasonable people to read the Durham report not realize how close we came to a totally corrupt establishment electing Hillary Clinton on a series of lies that would have then kept them in power and blocked any of this coming public. You're exactly right. The IRS decision this week is clearly, I think an obstruction of justice, and clearly was done at the direction of the attorney general.
NEWT:
Anyone who wants to can go to America's new majority project.com and see all of our polling data and it is very clear, the American people believe the government is too big, it spends too much, it is borrowing too much. They believe it's a big factor in the inflation rate. Only 24% of the country wants to see Biden succeed in getting a debt ceiling increase with no spending cuts. About 46% want a debt ceiling with spending cut. There is another 16% that don't want to see the debt ceiling raised at all because they're so sick of government spending, exactly what we just talked about. Government corruption, government waste and it's insane for the Democrats to decide that the battle they're going to pick is over work requirements. Americans overwhelmingly believe, and the data is all there, at America's new majority project dot-com, the American people overwhelmingly believe you ought to either be working or looking for a job if you're going to get any kind of assistance. They do not believe that able-bodied adults should be allowed to sit around to draw checks. And for some reason, this is an almost religious belief on the left that your government owes you money to do nothing. Very few Americans agree with that. It is another example how the country is polarizing, with about 1/3 to one-fourth of the country on the hard left, all the rest of the country thinking they're nuts. I think House Republicans are gradually winning. You can't overstate the importance of Kevin McCarthy and the house Republicans having actually passed a debt ceiling increase with spending cut. They can now say with a straight face, look, we're prepared to save the country from default. We actually passed a bill that will save the country from default. Why is Biden refusing to save the country from default? And it is clearly Biden who is now the problem, not the Republicans.
NEWT:
Look, you tell the American people what they already believe, this is a bill which cuts spending, this is a bill which reduces regulations so we can get more gas and oil and bring down the price of gas and oil and create jobs. This is a bill which requires people to work if they're going to get money from the government. This is a bill which takes back the covid money that has not been spent since covid is now no longer an emergency. And this is a bill which sets a cap of 1% growth on domestic discretionary spending for the next 10 years. That is about a 60 or 65% issue. The left I think is in the clear minority now and my hope is that the house and senate Republicans will calmly, cheerfully continue to communicate that they are very prepared to avoid a default. They don't understand why the secretary of the treasury doesn't talk to the president and explain to him how big of a deal this is, and I think it is absurd he is leaving for Japan without this having been fixed. I think Biden ought to put America's concerns first. Quit traveling around the world and focus in. If there is a default it will be Joe Biden's default and it will be hung around his neck because the house and senate Republicans both have said they're very prepared to vote to avoid a default if it comes with reforms and with spending cuts.
