Boredom / “Dull of Hearing” Among the Favored People
Text: Hebrews 5

Objective: that the brethren fight off effectively this common but
undesirable condition among Christians

Intro:
Define – Bored, weary, Favored, Saved
Verses: Dull of hearing, weariness

Boredom Proneness Scale

Why and How We Should overcome Boredom:
1. Realize there are so much to learn – vv.1-11
a. “many things to say”
b. Take time to learn and learn well – line upon line
2. Realize that there are so much to teach – v. 12
a. With love towards those that should also be taught, go on teaching
b. Going on with work will eliminate boredom because you have so much to do
3. Even the Basics can occupy us – there can be level of masteries to be attained – v.12
a. “first principles”
b. Master the basics – from there your journey will be more exciting
4. Higher and Better Goals are Better - Achieve Maturity - v. 12, 14
a. “strong meat”
b. Don’t stay on the basics – if not, anything on that level becomes boring

Message/conclusion:

Overcome Boredom.. Do more for the Glory of God with Enthusiasm
