Hundreds of Thousands Gather in Warsaw for Massive Protest Against Poland's Ruling Party

Warsaw witnessed one of Poland's largest demonstrations since the fall of communism in 1989 as hundreds of thousands of protesters rallied against the nationalist Law and Justice party (PiS). Former Prime Minister Donald Tusk and former President Lech Walesa were among the prominent figures in attendance at the march, which coincided with the 34th anniversary of Poland's first partially-free elections.

The protest encompassed a wide range of issues, including concerns over inflation, cost of living, women's rights, LGBT rights, and a controversial law seen as undermining democracy. Despite accusations from the PiS that the protest was a "march of hate," the gathering reflected the unity among opposition groups and their determination to defend democracy.
