The world the Disciples lived in was a world in where demonic activity was common and readily excepted by the masses as being such, demonic. In Matthew Chapter 10 Jesus gives the disciples instructions for navigating a world that our own is, in significant measure, beginning to look like. His instruction, "Be as wise as Serpents and as harmless as doves."
