Around 100 million people around North America have been placed under air quality alert warnings, as hazardous smoke from Canadian wildfires darkens skylines

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classified the air quality in much of the north-east as "unhealthy", and has now issued red alerts across Philadelphia and NYC.
