MC Eiht breaks down what he thinks about the Billboard top 50 rappers of all time list and gives his thoughts on the concept of a Top 5 List of rappers in general.

Still, the 50th anniversary of hip-hop is being celebrated grandly, and the rankings of the greatest hip-hop MCs of all time, provided by Billboard and Vibe, will surely be a major part of the celebration.

As two of the music industry's most prominent trade publications, Billboard and Vibe have announced their joint ranking of the 50 greatest MCs in hip-hop. Rolling out their list of 10 spots at a time since January, the final tally revealed Jay-Z as the No. 1 MC of all time.

By combining Billboard's chart-based data with Vibe's street-cred, the two publications sought to reduce the subjectivity of their rankings. Nevertheless, fans and artists have been quick to debate the selection, with the likes of Ja Rule expressing their disappointment at being excluded.

Nevertheless, the consensus of Billboard and Vibe is sure to be a central part of the festivities as hip-hop celebrates 50 years in the music industry.
