The Piedmont Crescent

Combination of animated drawings and aerial photography illustrate the development of the Piedmont Crescent covering the eleven counties from Gaston to Wake. The historical sequence of geography, transportation and power (electricity, gas and oil) with the resulting population and industrial development is graphically shown. "What's next?" is the question asked as the need for planning becomes evident. Local government, State government, business and industry all need to work together to plan regionally to provide water, sewage, clean air, beauty, education and recreation.
