THE OLD ONES ARE THE STABILIZERS

Here's some trivia that you have yet to consider. I have lived three times longer than the average cowboy 150 years ago. In some circles, I'm considered an old guy. It's an exciting journey as we progress through our elevation of age. If we are sensitive and sensible, we can actually see further the higher we get.
However, the society that we live in tends to shove its seniors aside, considering them not to be productive anymore. Because of that tendency to ignore decades of wisdom, we lose a treasure trove beyond calculation.
In our generations past, grandpa and grandma were part of the household so that they could be part of the input into the younger generation. That well-known television series The Waltons depicted that type of family, and we couldn't get enough of it.
What does God say about this subject?
In any healthy society, everyone has a part to contribute. There's a reason that the young men go to war and the old men give counsel for war. Young men and women have a lot of fire in their spirits but have yet to be proven in life experience. Because of that, they tend to run before they think.
Because of that, God has put the old ones among us as stabilizers. Those of a certain age have seen it all before and know that, eventually, it will turn and change for the better.
We see this in our education system, where the youth are being fired up over the end of the world because of their fear of climate change. If you've been through more than 20 summers, you realize that the seasons come and go and adjust themselves.
And most of all, if you have your eye on the heavenly father, you can see that he still has his hand on the controls and has promised to complete his task.
When the Lord started all this, he said, "Let us make man in our image," and He did. When Jesus came to sacrifice himself for the redemption of mankind, it was also accomplished. If you've been in Christ for several seasons of your life, there's a confidence in your spirit that stabilizes and gives foundation to those around you.
So all of you seasoned gals and guys out there, stand tall there's a reason God has you among the body of Christ to give that stabilizing effect when the winds of trouble blow.
