Sinful Nature, Biblical Counseling

Fundamental to our Christian faith is the Biblical teaching that man has a sinful nature. Sin is not only an act of wrongdoing but also a state of alienation from God. Man is conceived in sin. "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me" Psalm 51:8. And man is born in a state of sin. "The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born" Psalm 58:3. We are told by the Lord that the state of man's heart is far from God. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9.
