Freedom Caucus challenges McCarthy’s rule of the House

In 2023, the Freedom Caucus challenged Kevin McCarthy and the Republican establishment by beginning a crusade against the so-called RINOs, or Republicans In Name Only. The Freedom Caucus is a conservative caucus within the House of Representatives, founded in 2015, that seeks to promote limited government, fiscal responsibility, and adherence to the Constitution. They view RINOs as Republicans who lack the courage of their convictions and instead compromise with Democrats on important issues.
