I recently purchased the SITKA Gear Incinerator Flip Mitt and I am blown away by how warm and windproof they are. Even on subzero days, there is enough room in the mitten part to fit a handwarmer packet, ensuring my hands stay toasty all day.
While it would be nice to have touch screen material on the index finger, I actually appreciate the opportunity to "disconnect" from outside distractions while I am out in the field.
These mitts are truly a game changer. I recently went high elevation hunting and my hands kept going numb while I was trying to glass from a windy cliff.
But after picking up these mitts, I was able to keep my fingers nice and warm even in the open breeze.
While the magnet that is supposed to hold the mitten folded back is a bit weak, it hasnt caused any major problems because as soon as you slide the mitt off your fingers its completely out of the way.
These mitts are so warm that I even used them for snowboarding, instead of renting snow gloves. They got mildly damp but my hands stayed completely warm and dry.
These mitts might be expensive but they are worth every penny. I did dock a star because of the weak magnetic hood back thats supposed to hold them open and because the leather-type trim piece can make my hand fall asleep.
