I purchased the Simmons 560520 Truplex Riflescope for my inexpensive Mossberg Patriot .450 Bushmaster, which is one of the few legal rounds required for Ohio deer hunting.
Since I usually hunt at dawn and dusk, I wanted a scope with lots of light, which is why I opted for the 50mm objective lens. Despite its low price, reviews for this scope were good.
To my surprise, the scope performed exceptionally well! It brought in all the light I needed and held a zero, even on a heavy-hitting gun like the .450 Bushmaster.
However, if youre planning on mounting this scope on a flat top like an AR, youll need at least medium mounts. I recommend high and offset mounts for better clearance.
The 50mm lens is too large for shorter rings, which could end up costing you more for the rings than for the scope itself. If purchasing for a flat top, consider the 40mm bell instead.
As you can see in the attached picture, the bell is lower than the rail, which is perfect for the Mossberg Patriot .450 Bushmaster since the barrel drops low past the receiver.
This scope is a great value for the money and one of the best scopes per dollar Ive ever bought. I am impressed by its performance and will definitely consider buying more of them in the future.
However, be aware that the product may be mislabeled. The picture shows 3x9x50, but the product may be different upon arrival. I also used this scope on a 300 BLK out and it worked perfectly for my needs.
I used tall scope rings for clearance, and the glass remained clear at all magnifications. Even when shooting at paper targets at 100 yards, I was able to clearly see the impact.
In conclusion, if youre looking for a budget-friendly riflescope that performs well in low-light conditions, the Simmons 560520 Truplex Riflescope is an excellent choice.
Just be sure to consider the appropriate mounts depending on your firearm and intended use.
