DIY 2x72 Knife Making Belt Sander how to make

Homemade 2 x 72 inch Knife Making Belt Sander for DIY Knife Makers. Belt sanders are probably the key tool for most knifemakers. Most store-bought 1-inch sanders just do not have the power needed for grinding knife blades and the short belts do not last very long. Unfortunately, many 4-inch commercially available sanders are designed with walls that prevent knife bevel plunge cuts. For these reasons, the 2x72" belt sander has become the gold standard for DIY knife makers.

This short video shows how we made a 2x72 inch belt sander for our DIY knife making projects. We used mostly scrap materials and a 1 hp motor.
