I am thoroughly impressed with the Vortex Optics Diamondback Roof Prism Binoculars 10x42. The clarity is outstanding and compares well with other binoculars of greater cost.
I compared several binoculars before purchasing these and found that the Nikon Prostaff 7s had similar optical quality at the same price point. However, I did find that the Nikon Monarch 5s and Leupold BX-3s had better optical quality, but were double the cost.
I was only shopping for hunting binoculars that were rubber coated, roof prism, gas purged, o-ring sealed, and had a bomb-proof warranty. The Vortex Diamondbacks met these qualifications and are lightweight, compact, and rugged.
On my recent hunting trip, they were comfortable to wear and performed exceptionally well. One of the standout features was the low light performance, as the brightness and clarity at dusk were nothing short of amazing.
The Vortex Diamondbacks seem to be durable enough, and I used the included neck strap to secure them to prevent them from swinging around. Despite banging them on the tailgate a few times, they held up without any issues thanks to the Vortex VIP Warranty.
