Abzû Full Gameplay

Abzû is an adventure video game developed by Giant Squid Studios and published by 505 Games. It was released digitally for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 in August 2016, for Xbox One in December and for Nintendo Switch in November 2018, with a physical version for consoles debuting in January 2017. The game follows the journey of a Diver exploring the ocean and restoring marine life through magical springs, with gameplay allowing the player to freely navigate underwater environments ranging from open water to natural caves and ancient ruins.

Development lasted three years and involved a team of thirteen people. Several members such as director Matt Nava and composer Austin Wintory had previously worked on the 2012 video game Journey – Abzû's marine setting was both an opposing reaction to Journey's desert and inspired by Nava's passion for scuba diving. The environments and story took influence from Sumerian mythology and the myth of the cosmic ocean. The title performed well commercially and was praised by critics, with much praise being directed towards its artistic style, with some comparing it to Journey.
