Since women are the weaker vessel, they are usually the victims of domestic violence. Usually there is an otherwise normal relationship with much love. But even though abusive times may be few, there is no excuse good enough for physically harming one's wife. Even one incident may make it necessary for a woman to seek a woman's shelter and divorce. The Lord says that if a man leaves his marriage in his heart by disobeying God's command to love, honor and protect his wife, then there is cause for divorce for the woman's peace and safety. "If the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace" 1 Corinthians 7:15.
