I recently paired the Vortex Optics Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 First Focal Plane Riflescope with my Ruger Precision Rifle (6.5 c) and some Vortex rings, and let me tell you, it was worth every penny!
I was so impressed with this scope that I ended up buying another PST Gen II and played musical scopes on my rifles. The 5-25x mil/mil with the EBR-7c reticle is absolutely phenomenal.
I wanted to update my post because in my initial review I noted that the turrets were soft in the first several MOA of elevation and then became solid clicks.
However, in my new Viper PST Gen II 5-25, this is not the case at all. The turrets are super crisp the entire way around and tracking has certainly been accurate as I have tall-target tested both scopes.
While the clicks are still not Razor HD Gen II quality, for an optic that was purchased below $1,000 this is probably my favorite item on the market.
After owning this scope for about 15 months and putting 1,200 rounds of 308 Winchester through it, I decided to run it in a PRS match at my local club, which goes up to 600 yards.
I had no problems hitting a small 8-inch plate at 600 yards with 15x magnification. The EBR-7c reticle is extremely versatile and has helped me accurately shoot at varying distances.
I love that its a first focal plane scope, which means the reticle remains in proportion to the target at all magnifications. The glass is clear and bright, even in low light conditions.
The scope is built to withstand harsh conditions and is shockproof, waterproof, and fog proof. I also added the Optics Switchview Throw Lever to the scope, which has made adjusting the magnification faster and easier.
The eyepiece is easy to adjust for a comfortable, personalized fit. The scope comes with a sunshade, lens cloth, and a CR2032 battery.
Overall, the Vortex Optics Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 First Focal Plane Riflescope is a fantastic investment for any shooter looking for a high-quality, versatile, and durable scope at an affordable price.
