DAY TWO: “Blameless”- (Job 1:1)- See Writeup

"Blameless" - Job 1:1:

From the devotional- Job 1:1: "There was a man in the country of Uz named Job. He was a man of perfect integrity, who followed God and turned away from evil."

From my Orthodox Study Bible- Job 1:1: "There was a man in the land of Ausitis whose name was Job. That man was true, blameless, righteous and God fearing, and he abstained from every evil thing."

According to the commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible- Job was originally called "JOBAB" (Job 42:19). The LXX text provides us with the answer that Job is no longer the mystery man "from the land of Uz." Job is from "THE LAND OF AUSITIS, it is located on the borders of Edom and Arabia (Job 42:19). Job was also a descendant of Abraham through Esau, and his first wife was an Arab (Job 42:20). Job is considered a Gentile, and Esau the unbeliever was his forefather. According to St. John Chrysostom, the text qualifies Job as "BLAMELESS", that is, "just", but that it did not say, "without sin"- only Christ is without sin (Hebrews 4:15).

Job 42:19: "This man is described in the Syriac book as living in the land of Ausitis, on the borders of Edom and Arabia. Previously his name was "JOBAB"

Job 42:20: "He took an Arabian wife and begot a son named Ennon. But he himself was a son of his father Zaire, one of the sons of Esau, and his mother, Bosorra. Thus, he was the fifth son from Abraham.

"Blameless does not mean perfect. It means that in every situation you do the correct thing. If you sin against someone, you confess your sin and ask for forgiveness. If you sin against God, you repent and begin to obey Him - (Proverbs 28:13). Often the way you handle your sin is as important as the sin itself. Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
