WHOA! We Just Became One Of Walter Day's Video Game SuperStars!

At the 2023 Illinois Game Con, I had quite an honor bestowed upon me by someone I hold in high regard and esteem. I'm talking about Walter Day and the Walter Day SuperStars, receiving our own Video Game & Pinball Trading Card. That's right, We Just Became One Of Walter Day's Video Game SuperStars!

As the founder of Twin Galaxies, the oldest video game scorekeeping and adjudication service in history, Walter Day is known as the creator of e-sports and has often been called The Patron Saint of Video Games. His remarkable efforts to find, verify, and catalog video game world records has led to a decades-long partnership with The Guinness Book of World Records. He's been featured in the documentary "King of Kong", and also was immortalized in the Disney and Pixar movie "Wreck-It Ralph".

I was nominated for the award by Ryan Tauscher, who owns The Item Shop game store in Bloomington, IL and has been the organizer of the Bloomington-Normal Game Con, now the Illinois Game Con. Walter and I had originally discussed adding me way back in 2021 at the Pinball Expo. I was on a panel where several others were getting their awards and he asked me if I had been included yet. I mentioned I had not, and said he'd fix that. This would have happened much sooner, however, I kept dropping the ball and did not get them a photo or biography in a timely manor. As such, my induction and inclusion didn't happen until June 2023.

The Biography section of my card reads as follows:
A fan of video games since the original Atari 2600, Gary Katzer has been a lifelong fan of video games. In 2017, he took his passion and interest in gaming and content creation and launched RoXolid Productions. Focusing on modern and retro video games, accessories, tutorials, and product reviews, he strives to contribute in a positive way to the gaming community. He shares his passion for the hobby with others in a friendly, engaging, and easy-to-follow manner. Gary credits "Mr. Baseball" Bob Uecker, the voice of his hometown Milwaukee Brewers, for helping inspire his broadcast style.
