Here is how the New Zealand Government responded when asked: Please confirm that atmospheric spraying commonly known as "chemtrails" is being undertaken in New Zealand skies.

Thank you for your email of 12 August 2021 requesting the following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): “Please confirm that atmospheric spraying commonly known as "chemtrails" is being undertaken in New Zealand skies. If the answer is YES, please confirm what substances are being used for this purpose.” The Ministry for the Environment does not have any information relating to atmospheric spraying and has no reason to believe that such spraying is occurring. We are therefore refusing your request under section 18(e) as the document alleged to contain the information requested does not exist.
