Is Niantic ditching the Monster hunters AR project?

So earlier today I did my stream, "Gaming chat with Nosaj", and I read an article, that Niantic was letting 230 employees, from the business. With the layoffs, they are shutting down a few AR games such as, games like, Harry Potter, Catan, Minecraft Earth, NBA All World, and Marvel World of Heroes.
With all these games being shut down it leads me to question, if they are going to shut down the Monster hunter AR game in the works.This article from verge.com explains what is actually happening. Lets get into it!
