Jesus said that a time is coming, unlike any other time. Those who do not have Jesus in their hearts will go through the fire just to have an opportunity to get saved. You don't have to go through the Great Tribulation. If you give your life to Jesus today, you will get saved and wait for Him to rescue us from the coming wrath.
