Barrett M82A1: The First 100 for Operation Desert Storm

Since its inception, the Barrett M82A1 has changed small arms development. But despite its popularity and wide spread use today, its success wasn't always guaranteed.

One of the precious, early contracts for Barrett was for 100 M82A1 rifles for the United States Marine Corps in Operation Desert Shield. Ronnie Barrett and his team worked all Christmas week to fulfill the order, and this very rifle is one of those first 100 rifles sent to the USMC in January 1991.
