Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic neuromuscular disease that leads to muscular weakness of the face, throat, and respiratory system. The condition causes descending paralysis, which means that it originates in the head and descends downward throughout the body. A patient with Myasthenia Gravis may show the following signs and symptoms...

- Muscle weakness
- Muscle fatigue
- Ptosis (drooping eyelid)
- Difficulty swallowing
- Slurred speech
- Shallow breathing
- Diminished breath sounds
- Facial weakness

➡️ Myasthenia Gravis Diagnosis:
- Edrophonium test
- Ice pack test
- Blood analysis
- Repetitive nerve stimulation
- Radiographic imaging
- Pulmonary Function Testing

➡️ Treatment for Myasthenia Gravis:
- Bed rest
- Medications such as corticosteroids, immunosuppressive drugs, and cholinesterase inhibitors
- Plasmapheresis
- Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg)
- Intubation and mechanical ventilation may be indicated to assist the patient if they have trouble breathing on their own
