➡️ What is Asthma?
Asthma is a respiratory condition that is characterized by recurring episodes of dyspnea and wheezing. Episodes are caused by tightening and constriction of the airways in the lungs and can occur due to certain triggers, such as:

➡️ Common Asthma Triggers:
▪ Pollen
▪ Grass
▪ Dust
▪ Smoke
▪ Mold
▪ Pollution
▪ Pests
▪ Cleaning supply chemicals
▪ Pet dander
▪ Fragrances

And other things, such as physical exercise and even breathing in cold air. Each patient is affected differently by each trigger and they should strive to avoid them as much as possible.

➡️ Signs and Symptoms of Asthma:
▪ Chest tightness
▪ Wheezing
▪ Difficulty breathing
▪ Coughing
▪ Shortness of breath
▪ Pursed-lip breathing
▪ Increased accessory muscle usage
▪ Diaphoresis

The disease itself is chronic, obstructive, inflammatory, and varies with different levels of severity. A severe episode may be life-threatening and require intubation and mechanical ventilation. Asthma is known as a reversible condition because the obstructed airways can be reversed with certain medications and stimuli.
