Was the CIA Involved in Wagner Group Revolt?

US intelligence agencies learned weeks ago that the #WagnerGroup was planning an insurrection, according to a new report.

Multiple US officials told The Washington Post, that intelligence agencies learned in mid-June that the Russian mercernary group, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, was planning an armed rebellion to take out the country’s military leaders.

“There were enough signals to be able to tell the leadership … that something was up,” an unnamed US intelligence official told the Post, referring to the White House. “So I think they were ready for it.”

It appears the Russians were in fact aware in advance and ready, evidenced by the quick and peaceful end of this so-called "coup."

But the question lingers: were U.S. intelligence officials manipulating #Prigozhin and #Wagner behind the scenes, hoping to use Wagner Group forces to effect regime change in #Russia and topple #Putin from power?
