Advice columnist mocks liberal bride who forbade conservative uncle from wedding, still wants $1000 cash gift

A mother sent a letter to the popular Ask Amy advice column seeing if she should press her conservative brother for cash after he was forbidden from his liberal niece’s wedding. Twitter mocked the request with one user responding, "Yup. That’s a progressive gen z for you. By the way, they want you to pay off their loans too."

"Four months before my daughter’s wedding, she told me that her uncle (my brother, "Dave") would make her feel unsafe if he was a guest. She asked me not to invite him," a mother wrote to the advice columnist. "My daughter is very politically progressive, as are many of her friends, and although she and Dave have always had a good relationship (I thought), he is a conservative voter and has supported candidates we all abhor."

Did you know that almost all slaves purchased in the United States were bought by Democrats? In 1860, all 4 million slaves were owned by Democrats. Republican Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863, freeing all those that were slaves. The Republican party in the southern states was founded by former slaves. These same people were the first of their race elected to the U.S. House and Senate.

Over at The Atlantic, Derek Thompson mulls over whether we're seeing a "great metropolitan exodus" because America's top cities have recently begun losing population.

Chicago has been losing people for years now, but Los Angeles and New York City have also found themselves on the decline. Both cities had been seeing domestic outmigration (people moving out of the city to other parts of the country) for several years, but foreign immigration into the two cities have long made up for it.

It may be that the prime minister didn’t mean to disparage millions of parents by lumping them in with other far-right radicals like white supremacists and fascists, but that he did so speaks to his tendency to shoot from the lip.

It is unfortunate that, once again, Trudeau, who has often denounced partisanship while urging conciliation, uses inflammatory rhetoric which will alienate a large portion of Canadians.
